Emotional Connections

I've often described relationships between people as "emotional connections." You might think that this is a very cold term. I agree. But this is what they are, and that term is the most all-encompassing phrase that I can use to describe them.

"Emotional Relationships" refers to any relationship an individual (or unit) has with a piece of information, whether it be another individual (or rather, the first person's sense of who the other person is), a physical object, or an idea, where the individual values that other piece of information. In short, Emotional Relationships describe all connection we have with the world.

I have hypothesized that emotional relationships have three basic roots: Geographic, Chemical, and Memeographic. A geographic relationship is simple: If an individual has constant physical contact with something, they become attached to it (either positively or negatively). This applies to people and places directly.

Chemical relationships occur inside the individual's body. This includes endorphins and the like.

Memeographic relationships come from constant contact with a single, distinct set of information. (In the abstract, it could be postulated that our senses are simply information, rendering the other two groups redundant.) Memes are things like mannerisms, cultural teachings, stereotypes, cliches, and such. These sometimes combine with the other two to form complex relationships, such as love (memeographic, chemical, and geographic) and culture (memeographic and geographic).

As I can't type anymore, I shall go to bed. Feel free to call me with any ideas or corrections. Anytime when I'm not in class, I'll answer.
